Our Company History

Founded in 1988, East Coast Public Adjusters is one of the country’s longest-established providers of claims adjustment services. We’ve been based in Coral Gables, Florida since the very beginning but have always been proud to serve residents from all over South Florida, including the Keys, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Naples / Ft. Myers, the Palm Beaches and the Treasure Coast.

Pat Catania started the firm and during his 25 years as president of ECPA, this energetic entrepreneur was a passionate and tireless advocate for the rights of policy holders. A pillar of the business community, he was known as “The Legend”  among his colleagues and contemporaries. Pat’s efforts regarding the interpretation of insurance law resulted in benefits to the insured.

When Pat passed away unexpectedly in 2010, the reigns were passed to Dan Odess. Dan assumed the role of President and he immediately went to work to take the company to a higher level by reorganizing the team and implementing an aggressive marketing plan that included sponsorships of The University of Miami Hurricanes and The Miami Heat. Not only has ECPA grown to cover a larger geographic reach but at the same time we have advanced our reputation for integrity, innovation and outstanding customer service.

Dan has also continued to “fight the good fight” legally… He picked up right where Pat left off to help fight for the rights of the insured. His efforts in Tallahassee have certainly been noticed and applauded by other PA’s and consumer rights groups. His desire and passion will simply not let him stop fighting for your rights until the battle has been won.

Pat was always a believer in both giving and doing. East Coast has continued to follow the path that Pat established. We currently support a broad range of philanthropic activities in the areas which we serve. Benefactors include, among others, St. Jude’s Hospital, The Coral Gables Fire Fighters Benevolent Association and several youth sports teams in the Miami-Dade area.

To date, East Coast continues to provide the highest quality public adjusting services to those in need. In early 2011 an office was opened in Houston, Texas and plans are underway to open in additional markets in the very near future..
